从我同事的blog上转的一篇文章。

春节期间，在给老公的外甥女（小学3年级）辅导英语的时候，有这样一个情景：
我：“面条怎么说？”
外甥女：“noodles!”
我说：“应该是noodle吧！”
外甥女：“课本里就是noodles啊！”
查看了她们用的小学3年级课本，生词表里果然写的是noodles，而非noodle。我于是感觉不太对劲儿！
本着认真的原则，我们又查阅了其他辞典和电子词典，如果输入中文“面条”，结果出来的都是noodle。

noodle的确是有复数形式的，但是课本里把复数形式直接作为面条这个英文单词列出来，显然是不妥的。
不知道多少小朋友用了这样的课本，面条全都是noodles，根本不会去用noodle了。
而实际生活中，noodle用得要比noodles多很多。

请教了一位美国朋友，到底什么时候用noodle，什么时候用noodles，是这样的：

使用noodle：
I am eating chicken noodle soup.
Do you want some noodle?
Go to the noodle shop.
I have only one piece of noodle left in my bowl.
the fried noodle （炒面）
the fired Chinese rice noodle （炒米粉）
One more chicken noodle, please.

使用noodles的：
“I am eating a bowl of noodles.”
“I have 3 pieces of noodles left in my bowl.”
Chinese food is often served with rice or noodles.

两个词都有的例子：
The noodle shop is now out of noodles.
Types of noodle dished: basic noodles, chilled noodles, fried noodles and noodle soup.
